A macro series about materials nobody looks at twice - grain, patina, wear, the marks left behind by whatever happened to the surface earlier.

Shot close up, a texture is still only a texture; it has to stop being recognisable before it turns into an image. So I worked in daylight, no studio, and moved in far enough to strip the context out. What's left is shape and light, and an ordinary surface starts to read like a landscape.
